Concert "French Trio around Poulenc"

Sunday 5 November, 2017 | at 4pm

By the Opéra de Rouen Normandie

Three musicians from the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen take you on a voyage to early 20th century Paris, with scores for wind instruments by Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) and other composers of the French School influenced by Charles Koechlin (1867-1950) and Erik Satie (1866-1925). They lived in Paris, they knew one another and very likely met at the salon of the Princesse de Polignac, where Poulenc and Henri Sauguet met in 1922. That is about when his famous sonata for clarinet and bassoon was composed.
