Thursday, 26 and Friday, 27 April,
Saturday 21 et 28 avril, 5 and 12 May, 2018
at 2:30pm

After a short guided tour of the exhibition Japonisms / Impressionisms, children participate in a workshop within the exhibition rooms and explore the themes and techniques featured in the exhibition. A fun way to learn through hands-on and creative activities.

My water-lily fan
(Wednesday, 18 and 25 April, 2 and 9 May, and Friday, 27 April, at 2:30pm)

After going through the exhibition looking for fans in the paintings and for paintings in the shape of a fan, children imagine their own composition in the half-circle shape that inspired Degas, Gauguin, Signac and many more. The workshop uses collage, drawing with pencils, gold and silver pastels, and a dash of origami.

Impressionist kimono
(Saturday, 21 and 28 April, 5 and 12 May, and Thrusday, 26 April, at 2:30pm)

During the tour, children are introduced to the kimonos that appear in many of the paintings and prints. They also discover the colours and patterns of Japanese woodblock prints. After choosing an elegant lady or a kabuki actor from one of those prints, they transform their kimono into a riot of impressionist strokes, using brightly colored oil pastels.
