10 years of collecting

From 22 March to 11 November, 2019

When the museum opened in 2009, the acquisition of a drawing by Pierre Bonnard of Marthe Bonnard and Claude Monet in Giverny was an affirmation of its desire to put together a collection, in addition to mounting emblematic temporary exhibitions. The museum has thus acquired one hundred and fifty-two works – paintings, drawings, photographs and letters – thanks in particular to the generosity of donors, as well as the assistance of the Société d’Amis du Musée and a large fundraising scheme.

The exhibition “10 years of collecting” will offer an overview of the collection and will include nihonga works and photographs of Normandy landscapes, alongside paintings by Impressionist contemporaries of Claude Monet, such as John Leslie Breck, Maurice Denis and Gustave Caillebotte.
