Impressionism on the Seine

April 1 to July 18, 2010

For the Normandy Festival of Impressionism in 2010, the museum organized a magnificent exhibition entitled "Impressionism on the Seine."

Some fifty works painted on the banks of the Seine showed the changing seasons, river and port activities, Seineside pastimes, and the places where the artists stayed. The exhibition told the story of Impressionism and Post- Impressionism from Eugene Boudin to Henri Matisse. It included masterpieces by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste  Renoir, Edouard Manet, and Georges Seurat.

This exhibition received exceptional loans from the musée d’Orsay and the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
